The Finale of Hops for Hope Virtual 5K 2020!

Updated: Oct 29, 2020

We gave 2 adaptive bikes away from the event's Adaptive Bike Giveaway

What an amazing week it has been! Thank you to everyone that participated in Hops for

Hops for Hope Virtual 5K Beer Run/Walk 2020! We know this wasn't what we all expected earlier this year but we are happy we were able to make the virtual event a success! This was a week of giving the freedom of mobility while receiving beer. We couldn't ask for a better combo.

We want to give a big shout-out to everyone that made our virtual 5K amazing! If it wasn't for our runners, sponsors, donors and volunteers we wouldn't be able to continue our mission.

SO, THANK YOU!!!

~ Adaptive Bike Giveaway ~

This was our first time doing our Adaptive Bike Giveaway Facebook Contest for the 5K. For the last 8 years we have hosted this contest for our other annual event, Everybody Rides. We were excited to do the Facebook Contest for the 5K this year!

We had 5 extraordinary people enter - Lex, Lily, Metzli, Mekhi and Quran.

Please take a minute and click here to read these powerful stories.

We held the Adaptive Bike Giveaway Presentation at D and G Brewing on their BrewDay. We are excited to announce that (drum roll please...) with 1,029 likes LEX was the winner of the handcycle generously donated by Invacare - North America.

"Invacare Top End has been a long-time supporter of Project Mobility, we are proud to partner with such a great organization who shares our mission to grow adaptive sports and make life’s experiences possible."

Then we had a HUGE surprise! Everyone in the contest thought only the first place winner would walk away with a handcycle. We had so many donations and one of our participants, George, raised over $4,000 making it possible for us to purchase the second place winner their bike. LILY is now the proud recipient of her very own Invacare handcycle.

WE are going to continue raising the money needed to get everyone else in the contest their very own handcycles. All of them have been through so much in their lives.

Metzli has Spina Bifida

Mekhi was a victim of a drive by shooting at the age of 9

Quran has cerebral palsy

We need your help to give them the freedom of mobility that they all deserve so please consider making a donation today!

Thank you to everyone that has already donated, you are really making a BIG difference!

If you are able to donate to the 3 remaining children we would be so grateful! You can donate a few different ways:

- Head to our GoFundMe page to donate

OR you can donate straight to Project Mobility and not go through GoFundMe. There are two options when donating

- Mail/drop off a check

2930 Campton Hills Rd. St. Charles, IL 60175

*If you would like your donation to go to a specific child please put that in the memo/notes section.

~ Runners ~

What a crazy year 2020 has been! But thank you to all our runners who still joined us (virtually) with our 4th annual Hops for Hope 5K! Way to go! For many of you this was your first virtual 5K, congrats! A virtual 5K takes a lot more motivation. We were hoping the Beer Stop 6 Pack would give you some motivation or giving you a BrewDay would be a good reason to "run" and grab a beer. Whether you ran or walked all that matters is you do this for Project Mobility and our mission of providing the freedom of mobility to children, adults and wounded soldiers with disabilities.

Thank you for your patience with the multiple date changes of moving the event from May to October and then transitioning it to virtual. We really missed the in person event but we made the best of what we were given thanks to all of you!

~ Sponsors ~

Wow! We did not know how transitioning our 4th Annual 5K Beer Run to a virtual event would go, especially with sponsors. As you can see we had A LOT of support! Thank you!!

These businesses truly believe in all the good things we do at Project Mobility and when we say we could not do this event without them we really mean it!

We want to give a HUGE thank you to our AMAZING breweries! They donated A LOT of beer for our Beer Stop 6 Pack. We wanted to be the only virtual beer 5K that actually gave away craft beer! What is the point of a beer run if there is no beer?! The Breweries also were so generous to host a BrewDay during the week of the virtual event. THANK YOU!!

Truly

A big thank you to our sponsors, many of whom have supported Project Mobility since the first year of the 5K! Check out these amazing businesses that truly stands behind Project Mobility and our mission

~ Volunteers ~

Even though the event was virtual we still held Packet Pick-Ups and needed some assistance getting all the runner's items together (400 Beer Stop 6 Packs!). Thank you to those that helped us out in time we needed more help than usual due to the pandemic. We really appreciate our volunteers lending a hand when we need them most!

Also, huge shoutout to our AMAZING volunteer photographer Liz. We love your amazing photos and your passion for Project Mobility!

Thanks George for putting this video together!

Even with all the uncertainties with 2020, one this is certain, the kindness of our supporters and we will never take that for granted.
